Drug & Firearms Squad detectives have charged a man with manufacturing firearm parts on the South Coast under Strike Force Temarang.

Strike Force Temarang was established by State Crime Command's Drug & Firearms Squad to investigate the importation and manufacture of privately manufactured firearms and firearm parts.

In December 2024, strike force detectives commenced inquiries into a 52-year-old man on the state's South Coast after it was established the man allegedly purchased and imported equipment suitable for the manufacture of firearms.

About 7.15am yesterday (Wednesday 15 January 2025), strike force detectives - with assistance from Raptor Squad - executed a search warrant at a home in Culburra Beach.

During the search, police located 10 registered firearms, five unregistered firearms, 6000 rounds of ammunition, a trip wire, a knuckleduster, a small amount of drugs, over 100 fireworks, and evidence that the man was manufacturing firearm suppressors.

The man was taken to Nowra Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of manufacture prohibited weapon without a permit, possess unauthorised pistol, possess unauthorised firearm, possess >3 unregistered firearms, one is prohibited/pistol, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, handle explosive/precursor without authorising licence, holder of Category A or B licence not have approved storage and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and appeared in Milton Local Court the same day.
