Cantwell Statement on Shipbuilding Executive Order

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and senior member of the Senate Finance Committee, released this statement regarding President Trump's executive order on shipbuilding.

"Good news on the high seas. We need more American-built and American-crewed ships to strengthen our national security and expand global trade.

I look forward to working with my colleagues and with the executive order to secure icebreakers in the Arctic, establish financial tools to incentivize shipbuilding, strengthen our ports and shipyards, and invest in our maritime workforce."
