Italy is working on channels to carry out new student evacuations from Gaza

Italy is working to carry out new student evacuations from Gaza. The new operations aim to further assist the young residents of the Strip, including the 38 students identified by the University of Milan who received scholarships for that university.

Considering that, at the current state of the art, upon the indications of the Jordanian and Israeli governments, the channel that has so far allowed the evacuation of 157 students from Gaza between September and December 2025 alone is blocked, the Italian Embassy in Amman is exploring new alternative options with the Jordanian authorities, including reactivating the "university corridors." Furthermore, the possibility of activating additional channels beyond the IUPALS (Italian Universities Palestinian Students) program is being explored, considering the 165 requests received by the Consulate General in Jerusalem, not all of which are related to the IUPALS program.

The IUPALS program is an initiative promoted by the CRUI to enable Palestinian students to continue their academic studies at Italian universities. Four operations have so far been carried out in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry: 39 students on September 29; 49 on October 22; 61 during the evacuations on November 19 and 24, and finally 8 students on December 15.
