ATLANTA, GA - The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors install lane closures on Interstate 85 (I-85) in Clayton and Fulton counties this weekend to continue a concrete slab rehabilitation project on five miles between State Route 139/Riverdale Road (SR 139) and State Route 3/Metropolitan Parkway (SR 3) in Clayton and Fulton Counties. These activities help repair and extend the life of the concrete materials on the roadway.
Weather and on-site conditions permitting, crews will install "rolling" lane closures on I-85 northbound and southbound between SR 139/Riverdale Road and Cleveland Avenue each weekend night beginning Friday, March 27 and Sunday, March 29, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following mornings.
Crews will be striping the roadway and installing rumble strips. As work is completed in one area, crews will "roll" the closures to the next work area.
This $7.1 M project is scheduled for completion in early 2026.
Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the work zone during the project work hours. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
