Portland, OR - Last week, the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled 2-1 against Trump's 10% global tariffs - marking yet another victory against Trump's reckless and illegal trade war that is raising costs for working families and businesses across the state.
The court's decision, in response to the joint lawsuit from 24 states led by Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield, highlighted that the new import taxes were "invalid" and "unauthorized by law."
Reminder: this marks the second time that Oregon has defeatedTrump's reckless tariff agenda in court.
The average family is spending an additional $5,000 this year due to the combined impacts of tariffs, spiking gas prices, higher grocery costs and rising health insurance premium - but instead of delivering relief, the Trump administration is already looking for new ways to reinstate their disastrous tariffs: "We always do it a different way," Trump said this week when asked about his latest loss. "We get one ruling, and we do it a different way."
So far, only one of the leading Republican gubernatorial candidates - Rep. Ed Diehl - has acknowledged the dangers of Trump's tariffs. Christine Drazan and Chris Dudley remain silent.
"We celebrate the court's decision and the relief it will provide for working families and businesses in Oregon," said Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Nathan Soltz. "But we also know that Trump and his administration will keep searching for ways to enact their illegal and reckless economic policies. We need leaders in Oregon that will step up to defend our state, and we're grateful that Attorney General Dan Rayfield continues to protect Oregonians and their pocketbooks everyday."
