NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (December 26, 2025) - At a ceremony held on Dec. 23 at City Hall, four firefighters were promoted by Mayor Jim Cahill and Fire Director Chris Stellatella.
David Wiklanski was promoted to Deputy Chief. He joined the fire department in 2009 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2020 and Captain in 2023. A graduate of Kean University, he earned a Master's in Behavioral Sciences and a Bachelor's in Psychology. He is currently studying for his second Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. He has supported City functions by volunteering at the Ebenezer Soup Kitchen.
Peter Ohliger was promoted to Captain. He joined the fire department in 2007 and was promoted to Lieutenant in 2020. He has been an active volunteer with Elijah's Promise and the Ebenezer Soup Kitchen, as well as participating in the fire department's fire prevention and health fairs.
Robert Boyle was promoted to Captain. He joined the fire department in 2009 and was promoted to Lieutenant in 2021. He is a graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice & Political Science. He is a proud supporter of New Brunswick's Ronald McDonald House and the "Jimmy D. 5K Run." Firefighting is a family tradition; his brother, Randall, is also a City firefighter.
John Seelinger is promoted to Lieutenant. He joined the fire department in 2013. He is a graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor's in Communications. He was an active US Army Staff Sergeant and reservist, serving our country from 2002 to 2023.
