SACRAMENTO, CA - Assemblywoman Celeste Rodriguez (D-San Fernando Valley) today announced the "Moms Agenda," a coordinated effort to advance policies that directly support mothers and their children across California. The legislative package is aimed at uplifting families by improving maternal and infant health, economic stability, and access to essential services.

The Moms Agenda brings together a set of bills introduced by Senators and Assemblymembers to address the real challenges mothers face-from navigating healthcare and childcare systems to balancing work and family responsibilities. These bills have been shaped by hearings and conversations with the administration, advocates, providers, families, committee members, and personal experiences of mothers in the legislature. The package centers on a shared goal: ensuring support for mothers is tangible, accessible, and responsive to the realities families face every day.

"As a mother and Chair of the Select Committee on Latina Inequities, I understand how difficult it can be to navigate systems that were not built with families in mind, and the detrimental outcomes that can come with it," said Assistant Speaker Pro Tem Assemblywoman Celeste Rodriguez. "This effort is about meeting mothers where they are, keeping families front and center in policy decisions, and making sure parents have the support they need to raise their children with stability, dignity, and opportunity. Supporting mothers means supporting entire families and the communities they make up across our state."

"As a single mother, I've seen how hard it can be when the system doesn't keep up with the needs of working families," said Assembly Majority Leader Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters), chair of the California Legislative Women's Caucus. "The Moms Agenda helps give mothers what we've been asking for-real help, easy-to-find resources, and policies that reflect the reality of raising kids while trying to make ends meet. When we support our moms like this-making sure no mom has to go through it alone, and every family gets a fair shot-our families and communities are stronger."

"Being raised by a single working mom, I know that families like mine have for too long been overlooked in our policies. Supporting the next generation of Californians depends on supporting the parents who raise them.

I'm proud to serve as the Founding Chair of the California Legislative Children's Caucus because I believe the legislature must center the needs of our children throughout the legislative and budgetary process. I'm supporting the Moms Agenda because building a healthier, more equitable future for California's children starts with the moms and families who raise them," said Assemblymember Mia Bonta (D-Oakland).
