WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) announced FOCOL Holdings Limited as the Western Hemisphere Deal of the Year, recognizing a financing package that strengthens energy infrastructure in the Bahamas while supporting U.S. exporters and regional energy security.

"This deal is a strong example of what it looks like when EXIM is working to strengthen energy supply chains across the Western Hemisphere - supporting U.S. exporters, advancing energy access for our neighbors, and supporting the jobs and industrial capacity that make all of it possible here at home," said EXIM President and Chairman John Jovanovic.

The transaction enables the Bahamas to procure critical energy infrastructure, including two pipelines, one for diesel and one for natural gas, along with two advanced gas turbines to support reliable power generation.

Together, these investments are designed to enhance the reliability and flexibility of The Bahamas' energy system while modernizing its generation and distribution capabilities.

"The United States and The Bahamas are better together, and this Deal of the Year recognition proves it," said U.S. Ambassador to The Bahamas Herschel Walker. "This nearly $100 million investment strengthens energy security for The Bahamas while supporting hundreds of American and Bahamian jobs. We are delivering cutting-edge U.S. technology to power The Bahamas' future. I'm proud of the partnership between EXIM, our Embassy team, and FOCOL that made this transformative deal possible. It's a win!"

"FOCOL values its collaboration with EXIM Bank as a model partnership built on professionalism, responsiveness, and a shared commitment to impact. The EXIM team demonstrated a strong willingness to work collaboratively with FOCOL to structure a fit for purpose financing solution that advances the shared objectives of lowering energy costs, accelerating cleaner energy deployment, and strengthening energy resilience," said Clinton Rolle, Chief Operating Officer. "This partnership supports tangible benefits for the Bahamian people-reducing the cost burden of electricity, enhancing environmental sustainability, and empowering economic growth-while exemplifying how thoughtful, well-structured collaboration can deliver outcomes where all stakeholders win."

EXIM has been a valued financing partner in supporting GE Vernova exports," said Uday Mathur, Global Leader Capital Markets in GE Vernova Financial Services. "We are proud to work with our client FOCOL to deliver critical technology that help provide reliable energy to The Bahamas."

The deal aligns with two core EXIM priorities: strengthening energy supply chains and supporting high-quality American jobs. It also advances broader strategic objectives by expanding the role of U.S. exporters in key infrastructure projects across the Western Hemisphere.
