Sarens has received a series of new Grove rough-terrain cranes for the company's global fleet. From this latest order, the company has sent four 100 t capacity Grove GRT8100-1 models and an 80 t capacity Grove GRT780 to the construction of INEOS Project ONE in Antwerp, Belgium, one of Europe's most significant petrochemical investment projects.
All the units were manufactured at Manitowoc's factory in Niella Tanaro, Italy, before being shipped to Sarens. Manitowoc is providing comprehensive customer support to the cranes, including parts, service, and maintenance, via its local service teams and global customer support operations.
Project ONE, where most of the cranes are based, is centered on the construction of an ultra-modern ethane cracker. The facility will convert ethane gas into ethylene while using hydrogen generated during the cracking process as a lower-carbon fuel for the furnaces.
The cracker has been designed using modular construction methods, with sections built offsite and transported to Antwerp by ship. Some modules weigh up to 6,000 t and measure up to 50 m long, 40 m wide, and 60 m high. The wider development also includes storage tanks, pumping systems, extensive pipe networks, electrical distribution systems, pipe racks, cable routes, roads, underground systems, and site infrastructure.
Sarens, a global specialist in heavy lifting and engineered transport, is responsible for the project's transport and lifting operations, including road and sea transport, modular assembly, and precision installations. The company's scope also includes planning, coordinating, and executing all lifting and transport activities.
