Navy drones join deployment in DANA-affected areas

The Minister for Defence, Margarita Robles, visits the headquarters to learn about the work and deployment that has been carried out in the areas affected by Dana

In the Valencian Community, there are more than 1,000 Navy troops, the ship 'Galicia', the minehunters 'Sella' and 'Duero', six teams of divers, and from today, drones from the Hydrographic Institute of the Navy with the latest generation of sensors, which can measure exact distances, the thickness of the mud and the degree of humidity of the terrain. These tasks facilitates the subsequent ones, and the logistical deployment required to carry them out, making them more effective and efficient.

Margarita Robles expressed her gratitude for the effort, highlighting the capacity for adaptation and the excellent coordination between the Armed Forces and the Navy with the UME to provide a swift response adapted to the needs of the emergency.

Alfafar, Sedaví, Catarroja and Torrent are some of the locations where the Navy is working on tasks such as opening up roads, bailing out water and removing mud, and underwater reconnaissance, which is in addition to the search for missing persons in the subsoil of buildings, on the coastline and in the Albufera area, to which a total of 42 divers divided into six teams are committed.
