NCGOP Statement on Watson v. RNC Decision

Please see the following statement from NCGOP Chairman Jason Simmons:

"Today's Supreme Court decision underscores the importance of fighting every day for clean voter rolls, secure election procedures, and election integrity. While the Court reaffirmed that states set the rules governing their own elections, the NCGOP will continue working to ensure every legal vote is cast and counted with confidence.

Democrats have made their priorities clear: weakening voter ID laws, expanding mail-in voting without adequate safeguards, accepting ballots after Election Day, and opposing commonsense election security measures. Our position remains simple and consistent: only North Carolina citizens should vote in North Carolina elections.

The progress made under Auditor Dave Boliek and the current State Board of Elections has strengthened confidence in our elections, but those gains can quickly be reversed if Democrats succeed in rolling back these protections. The NCGOP will continue using every legal avenue to protect secure elections and ensure that every lawful North Carolina voter's voice is heard."
