The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, today received H.E. Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of Mission of the People's Republic of China to the African Union, for discussions on AU-China cooperation and issues of mutual interest.
The exchange highlighted the enduring strategic partnership between Africa and China, including cooperation under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), support for Africa's development priorities, and collaboration in addressing emerging challenges. The Chairperson expressed appreciation for China's continued solidarity with Africa, including its timely support towards efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak.
The two sides also exchanged views on economic cooperation, including China's expanded zero-tariff initiative for African exports, and reaffirmed the importance of strengthening mutually beneficial partnerships that advance the objectives of Agenda 2063.
They further underscored their shared commitment to the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, multilateral cooperation, and a stronger AU-China partnership in support of peace, development, and shared prosperity.
