Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R)'s seven popular outdoor pools will be open from Thursday, June 18 through Sunday, August 23, 2026. Peninsula Outdoor Pool will remain open for all activities through Monday, September 7, 2026.
For full schedules and information for all PP&R pools, please visit portland.gov/parks/recreation/pools. PP&R remains committed to maximizing summer access to pools. To support community needs, Peninsula Outdoor Pool will remain open through Labor Day, extending swim opportunities for individuals and families into late summer.
PP&R's four indoor year-round pools are also open, including the recently renovated Mt. Scott Community Center and Pool. The bureau is also developing a new, full-serviceNorth Portland Aquatic Center.

Free Open Play Swim sessions at PP&R pools, part of Summer Free For All
Portland Parks & Recreation's outdoor pools will offer one free open play swim session each week this summer, in addition to regularly scheduled swim lessons, open play swims, and water fitness classes.

Portland Parks & Recreation invites you to participate in Free Swim Week! Participate in a full week of complimentary swim lessons beginning June 22. This opportunity is designed to help participants of all ages build water confidence, and experience the benefits of swimming!
Free Swim week provides free swim lessons to Portlanders of all ages and ability levels. Lessons are one week long and take place Monday, June 22 to Friday, June 26.
Register for Free Swim Week in person Friday, June 12 from 4 to 7pm at any Portland Parks & Recreation Pool. Online registration availableat 7:30pm.
Attention: New Pool Rules!
To enter a pool facility, all children under the age of 14 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult (18+ years old). To go in the water, all infants, toddlers, non-swimmers, weak swimmers, and children under 48 inches in height must be supervised at all times by an adult (18 years+ old) who remains within arm's reach.
More swim lessons now, more coming
Portland Parks & Recreation are thrilled to offer more swim lessons this year. However, demand still outpaces available space, even with over 12,859 lesson spots this summer (nearly 6,000 more swim lessons offered than in 2022). Families should join waitlists if swim lessons are full. As more staff are hired and trained, the bureau will add more spots for people on the waitlists throughout the summer. Summer registration took place on May 16, with a second session opening for sign-up on June 13. Pool schedules for summer are posted online on the PP&R Aquatics website.

Access Discount Program
The Parks Levy has allowed PP&R to reduce cost as a barrier for all recreation programming, including swimming. City of Portland residents can register for the Access Discount Program to receive an ongoing discount of up to 90%. The pass is valid for 12 months from the date of enrollment. No proof of income is required.

Stay cool with park splash pads and fountains
PP&R operates FREE public splash pads and fountains so you and your family can stay cool outdoors across the city. Portland Parks & Recreation has splash pads on from late June through Labor Day, at no cost, to help Portlanders stay cool as our summers get hotter.
