The new togglable overlays feature lets you seamlessly switch between full-forensic video view without graphical elements, and operational video view, with overlays such as bounding boxes and text overlays. This works on both live and recorded video.
Overlay data helps investigators to more quickly and easily understand the context of the video. Traditionally, video systems require two separate streams: one with overlays for operational use and one without for forensic purposes. With this feature, the overlays originate from the camera itself, which preserves evidence integrity.
Introduced in AXIS OS 12.7, AV1's advanced feature combines both views into a single stream with perfect synchronization directly from the camera.*
Supported overlay types include scene annotations, bounding boxes, MQTT overlays, and text and image overlays. Privacy masks remain permanently applied to ensure integrity and compliance with privacy and data protection standards.
AV1 with togglable overlays is available in our ARTPEC-9 cameras with AXIS OS 12.7 and AXIS Camera Station Pro 6.12, providing end-to-end support for this innovative feature.
The togglable overlays feature is fully AV1 conformant, ensuring any AV1-compatible player can display the video, although switching the graphical elements requires feature support.
This is another example of how Axis combines technological innovation with user-focused design to create a better, smarter video experience.
