The preparation of the request for the fourth payment under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) was the focus of today's telephone discussion of Prime Minister Andrey Gurov with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The Prime Minister underscored the caretaker government's two main priorities concerning the NRRP.
First, Prime Minister Andrey Gurov stressed the preparation and the submission of the request for the fourth payment, the aim being the supply of new funding to the country for investment at the start of the summer. Second, the Prime Minister accentuated the cabinet's effort to make progress on the measures for which the European Commission had withheld funds for reasons of non-compliance. In the course of the discussion Andrey Gurov highlighted, among other things, the caretaker government's commitment to meet the scheduled requirements regarding the effective absorption of EU funds.
For her part, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen expressed support for the cabinet's effort to persuade the Bulgarian Parliament to approve the required legislation that will make Bulgaria eligible to receive the funds.
