Cameron University homecoming will see a big change beginning this fall with the creation of new activities and opportunities to bring alumni back to campus.
Previously held in late winter, Cameron will host homecoming this year during the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 3. During homecoming, the campus will be filled with events that honor both students and past graduates. Alumni-focused activities are planned for Friday and Saturday, creating opportunities for past students to reconnect, celebrate and engage with the campus community.
The goal of the shift is to strengthen participation and enhance the overall impact of homecoming.
"This change reflects a thoughtful, campus-wide effort to position homecoming at a time when we can fully showcase the Cameron experience," said Julie Cunningham, CU's Director of Alumni and Development. "By aligning with the academic calendar and broader campus activity, we're creating more opportunities for alumni, students and prospective students to engage in meaningful ways."
Cunningham added that the new timing allows for expanded collaboration across campus and a more dynamic slate of events.
"Hosting homecoming in the fall opens the door for a wider range of programming and stronger connections between current students, alumni and future Aggies," she said.
Director of Events and Activities Alannah Meyers-Young will coordinate student programming that will run from Monday through Friday that week. She emphasized the sense of connection that defines the celebration.
"Even though we come from different walks of life, we can join together for one singular goal - to belong to something greater than ourselves," Meyers-Young said.
