Public Notice: DNR Reaffirms No Environmental Impact for Water System Project

The City of Grinnell is doing a water system improvements project that is paid for in part with State Revolving Fund money. Earlier this year, the Iowa DNR reviewed the project and decided it wouldn't cause any major environmental issues (called a "Finding of No Significant Impact" or FNSI).

Since then, the project plans have changed some; the city is now adding fiber optic cable connections from Wells #7 and #9 to existing infrastructure and the south water tower to existing infrastructure. The DNR reviewed this change and determined it still won't cause any environmental harm, so they're reaffirming their earlier "no significant impact" decision. The full notice is available here.

The public has 30 days from the date of this notice to comment or disagree with the DNR's decision.
