Advisor to the Foreign Minister delivers opening remarks on "The Sufficiency Economy Philosophy: a people-centered development approach towards sustainable development and attainment of the SDGs"

On 24 February 2026, H.E. Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered opening remarks at the 13th Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development's side-event on "The Sufficiency Economy Philosophy: a people-centered development approach towards sustainable development and attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals" at the UNCC, Bangkok. The side-event was co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Thailand.

The Advisor noted the multiple challenges facing the world and underscored the need for transformative and people-centered approaches to accelerate progress on the SDGs. She reaffirmed Thailand's long-standing commitment to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP), articulated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, as a practical and resilient development pathway that has strengthened communities, enhanced human security, and can drive forward SDGs and translate global commitments into concrete local action.

A panel discussion was held on "Sufficiency thinking - a pathway to achieving the SDGS" which included high-level representatives and experts from the UNDP, the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA). The panel explored the alignment between the SEP and SDGs, highlighted practical case studies that demonstrate the SEP's application and its contribution to advancing the SDGs, and discussed Thailand's cooperation with development partners in accelerating SDG attainment through the SEP.
