Recent incidents in the Black Sea area - on the agenda of NAC discussions.

NATO's highest decision-making forum, the North Atlantic Council (NAC), met on Wednesday, June 10, in Brussels, to discuss the Alliance's security, with particular emphasis on recent events in our country.

Following the recent incidents in the Black Sea region, Romania requested the NAC to include on the agenda of discussions the dangers represented by naval drones in the Black Sea.

During the meeting, Romania presented the impact of the incidents generated by the Russian Federation's war of aggression, and the Alliance emphasized that the concentrated effort to defend every centimeter zone of NATO territory is a fundamental priority.

Romania presented in detail the efforts made regarding the provision of capabilities to respond to threats generated by drones, showing that until the delivery of the contracted equipment, support with similar capabilities from the Allies is necessary as soon as possible.

At the same time, within the NAC, the dangers represented by drones in the Black Sea region were analyzed, showing the impact generated by the recent threats from the Russian Federation, which has a real risk for the Black Sea region. The Allies reiterated the need to strengthen the deterrence and defense posture in the Black Sea, including in the Danube Delta area.

These topics were also presented by the Minister of National Defense, Radu Miruță, at the NATO Capability Generation Conference, at SHAPE, on June 2, where allies demonstrated full solidarity with our country, some of them indicating that they are under analysis at the national level for an additional contribution.
