Congresswoman Gwen Moore Hosts Maternal Health Roundtable to Discuss BadgerCare Cuts

Through cuts to BadgerCare, today's panelists discussed how the GOP's so-called Big, Beautiful Bill harms maternal health care in Wisconsin

"Today we talked with mothers in our community, advocates, health care providers and local elected officials, which gave my constituents a variety of perspectives on the state of maternal health and the impact of looming cuts to Medicaid. We know these cuts will have real life impacts on the health of moms and their babies, and they couldn't have come at a worse time, when the maternal health crisis continues to take too many mothers from our community. As a fierce advocate for strengthening maternal health care, I continue holding this important dialogue and highlighting what's at stake," said Congresswoman Gwen Moore.

Participants included: Congresswoman Gwen Moore, Wisconsin State Senator, Dora Drake (District 4), Wisconsin State Representative Margaret Arney (District 18)Sheldon Wasserman, Milwaukee County Board Supervisor (District 3), Amanda Dreyer, Deputy Medicaid Director, Rosamaria Martinez, Director for Family and Community Health, Milwaukee Department of Health Services, Shakita LaGrant-McClain, Director of Health and Human Services, Milwaukee County, Cashanna Franklin, Doula, African American Breastfeeding Network, Michelle Velasquez, Chief Strategy Officer, Planned Parenthood WI, Ann Ledbetter, Certified Nurse Midwife, Sixteenth Street Clinic, Jamika Jones, Mother of three and Entrepreneur, and Emily Calderon, Mother of two and Entrepreneur.
