Escambia County Monitoring Severe Weather Beginning Today, May 8

Escambia County is monitoring possible severe weather beginning today, May 8, into Sunday, May 10. According to the National Weather Service of Mobile, Escambia County is at a Marginal Risk for severe weather. Residents are encouraged to monitor the risk and have multiple ways to receive weather updates.

Friday, May 8:

  • Storms will linger through the area, with the timing for Escambia County taking place between 7 and 8 p.m. on Friday, May 8. In addition to heavy rainfall, possible hazards include damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail.

Saturday, May 9:

  • Several rounds of storms are expected to move across the area on Saturday, May 9, with the timing for Escambia County taking place during the daytime and evening hours. In addition to heavy rainfall, possible hazards include damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail.

Sunday, May 10:

  • Multiple rounds of showers and storms will once again develop on Sunday, May 10 and into Sunday night. In addition to heavy rainfall, possible hazards include damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail.

All Escambia County beaches will be at a Moderate Risk of rip currents beginning Friday and continuing until Monday, May 11. During this time, life-threatening rip currents are possible in the surf zone.
