Duck Valley Shoshone-Paiute Tribal Member Sentenced to Prison for Assaulting a Federal Officer

BOISE - Jeremy Louis Prior, 41, was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for assaulting a federal officer, U.S. Attorney Bart M. Davis announced today. Prior is a member of the Shoshone-Paiute Tribe of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation.

According to court records, on February 15, 2026, a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer responded to a request for assistance at a residence located on the Idaho side of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation. The calling party reported that Prior was under the influence and causing a disturbance at the residence. When the officer arrived, he attempted to locate and arrest Prior for an active tribal warrant. The officer eventually found Prior hiding in a closet. As the officer began to place Prior in handcuffs, Prior resisted and punched the officer in the face. Prior also kicked the officer.

Senior U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill also ordered Prior serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence.

U.S. Attorney Davis commended the work of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which led to the charge. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher A. Booker prosecuted the case.
