Mercyhealth offers free dinner seminar on atrial fibrillation

Mercyhealth will offer a dinner seminar on understanding atrial fibrillation on Tuesday, September 29, 5:30 pm, at Lino's, 5611 E. State St., Rockford. The seminar will include information on why the heart's rhythm matters.

September is AFib Awareness Month, and Dr. Imdad Ahmed, Medical Director of Mercyhealth Arrhythmia Center, will discuss how atrial fibrillation can impact health, as well as treatment options. AFib is an irregular, often rapid heart rate that commonly causes poor blood flow and is associated with an increased risk of stroke. Some people experience a racing, pounding, or fluttering heartbeat, while others may have no noticeable symptoms.
