WASHINGTON, D.C. -Aviation Chairman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) released a statement following the sixth session of the bipartisan Air Traffic Control (ATC)/National Airspace System (NAS) Modernization Working Group:
"Today, the bipartisan Air Traffic Control (ATC)/National Airspace System (NAS) Modernization Working Group held its sixth session, where we gained valuable insights from industry professionals who represent America's airports and federal contract towers. Our airports are hubs that connect Americans to their family, friends, and loved ones, and are a place where millions of professionals begin and end their travel. When airports are strong, so is America. As we work to modernize our nation's ATC and national airspace systems, it's critical that we listen to those who represent the places that are the starting and ending point for America's travelers, as well as gain insight from private entities that provide ATC services for nearly 30% of U.S. air traffic.
"It truly takes a village to transport people and goods across our nation and beyond, and our bipartisan working group continues to meet with the men and women on the front lines of America's aviation industry to ensure that our efforts to modernize our airspace work for everyone involved in this important responsibility."
