Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met with ministers and deputy ministers from Chile and Paraguay along with representatives of ECLAC and UNDP.
The President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, received on Wednesday, September 3 in Brasilia, authorities participating in the Sixth Session of the Regional Conference on Social Development in Latin America and the Caribbean, organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the government of Brazil and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Participating in the meeting were Wellington Dias, Minister of Social Development and Assistance, Family Affairs and the Fight against Hunger of Brazil; Javiera Toro, Minister of Social Development and Family Affairs of Chile; Carlos Paris, Vice Minister for Social Policy of Paraguay; Alberto Arenas de Mesa, Director of ECLAC's Social Development Division; and Almudena Fernández, UNDP's Chief Economist for Latin America and the Caribbean.
At this meeting, President Lula da Silva congratulated the officials on holding the Sixth Session of the Regional Conference on Social Development in Brazil's capital on September 2-4, and he commended the region's proposal to adopt a global pact for inclusive social development in the framework of the Second World Summit for Social Development, which will take place on November 4-6, 2025 in Doha, Qatar.
