City accepts donation for new bronze sculpture at Tyler Rose Complex

The City of Tyler has officially accepted a generous private donation that will bring a new, lasting work of art to one of the community's most cherished destinations.

On Wednesday, Jan. 28, the Tyler City Council approved the acceptance of a $325,800 donation from the Bronze Rose Council to fund the design of a custom decorative bronze rose sculpture at the Tyler Rose Complex.

The Bronze Rose Council, a group made up of several local garden clubs, raised private funds to commission the professional sculpture, which will represent the rose, a symbol deeply tied to Tyler's identity. The sculpture will be installed in a prominent location between the Rose Garden Center and the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center.

"This sculpture is a thoughtful investment in a space that brings people together year-round," said Leanne Robinette, Director of Parks and Recreation. "It adds something meaningful to the Rose Complex while reflecting the care and generosity of our community partners."

All donated funds are being processed through the East Texas Communities Foundation. The sculpture will be designed and cast by the Randolph Rose Collection, a professional firm specializing in bronze works.

The project will move forward in phases as the custom design and casting process begins, with completion expected within 12 to 14 months following City approval.

"The rose is more than a flower in Tyler, it's part of who we are," Robinette said. "This sculpture will be a lasting reminder of that legacy and the strong partnerships that continue to shape our parks and public spaces."

Once completed, the bronze rose sculpture will become a permanent feature of the Tyler Rose Complex, adding to the beauty of the site and creating a new point of interest for residents and visitors alike.
