Earthquake in Myanmar
There has been a 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar, the epicentre is in Sagaing region near Mandalay City, affecting large parts of the country. Mandalay and Naypyitaw airports are significantly damaged with no indication of when they may reopen. There may be several strong after-shocks. The military regime announced a State of Emergency in six states and regions: Naypyitaw, Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, northeast Shan State and Bago Region, in addition to the nationwide State of Emergency in place since the coup of 1 February 2021.
