Florida Atlantic University Libraries was recently voted into the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL), marking a significant milestone in FAU's continued growth as a research institution. The decision was approved by a vote of ASERL member libraries during the consortium's recent membership meeting.
"We are honored to join the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries and to collaborate with such an accomplished group of research institutions," said Linda Marie Golian-Lui, Ed.D, dean of the FAU Libraries. "This membership reflects Florida Atlantic's continued momentum as a Carnegie R1 research university, an 'Opportunity College and University,' and ranking in the Top 100 Public Universities."
Through ASERL membership, FAU Libraries will engage in collaborative initiatives such as shared collections, professional development and regional partnerships that expand access to resources and expertise. The membership further strengthens research support for faculty and graduate students by increasing access to shared research collections across member institutions.
FAU Libraries' ability to support the full research lifecycle, from discovery to publication, also enable participation in regional and national collaborations through improved access to scholarly materials and services, and new partnerships that extend FAU's reach across the Southeastern research community.
"This membership underscores the vital role our libraries play in advancing scholarship, expanding access to knowledge, and supporting the success of our students and faculty," said Golian-Lui. "As the Florida Atlantic hometown academic libraries, we look forward to contributing to ASERL's collaborative initiatives and strengthening partnerships that benefit researchers across the region."
FAU Libraries' distinctive collections and areas of expertise include its special collections, digital scholarship and community engagement, all of which benefit the university's 32,000 students, as well as its staff, faculty, alumni, researchers and the local community.
Founded in 1956, ASERL brings together leading research libraries across the Southeast to advance collaboration in resource sharing, professional development and innovative library services. With the addition of FAU, the consortium now has 40 member institutions.
