City of Boulder to Close All Administrative Offices, Age Well Centers and Recreation Facilities Dec. 18

Due to citywide power outages from extreme high winds, all city administrative offices, Age Well centers and recreation facilities will be closed all day Thursday, Dec. 18.

The city anticipates it will take Xcel Energy crews some time to restore power both to proactive shutoff areas and neighborhoods where infrastructure was damaged due to wind. In addition, there is significant debris in the roads, including downed limbs and power lines, and many traffic signals remain inoperable. Police are urging extreme caution for anyone who must travel tomorrow.

Public safety officials and critical response personnel will continue to work. Reopening of city buildings will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. Xcel Energy has already indicated another planned power outage tentatively scheduled for Friday, Dec. 19, based on current forecasts.
