RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan receives delegation of China

On September 17, the RA NA Vice President, the Head of the NA Armenia-China Friendship Group Hakob Arshakyan received delegation led by the Vice Chairperson of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Su Hui.

Members of the Friendship Group, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan, deputies Aleksey Sandikov and Gegham Nazaryan also attended the meeting.

The RA NA Vice President welcomed the high ranking guests and highlighted the perspectives of deepening the Armenian-Chinese warm and friendly relations, underscored the expansion of the visits at bilateral high level.

The NA Vice President touched upon the trends of development of bilateral economic relations, significant growth in the volume of commodity turnover in recent years and stated that there is a huge unrealized potential in both trade and economic and energy sectors. In this context, the activities of the Inter-Governmental Commission on economic cooperation were highlighted. Hakob Arshakyan also spoke about the necessity to deepen ties with China in the technological sector. In this regard, the possibility of cooperation in the Engineering City and Academic City projects was underscored.

The NA Vice President documented that the Armenian side is interested in developing cooperation with China also within the framework of multilateral platforms.

The NA Vice President presented the regional challenges to his counterpart, stating that Armenia is committed to the goal of establishing peace in the region. According to Hakob Arshakyan, the meeting of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the U.S. in Washington and the subsequent signing of the peace agreement and the adopted trilateral declaration are a serious development in the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process. It was emphasized that the humanitarian issues remain unresolved, in particular, 23 prisoners continue to be held in Azerbaijani prisons.

The Crossroads of Peace project initiated by the RA Government was introduced to the guests, which, according to Hakob Arshakyan, will promote the development of the region.

Thanking Hakob Arshakyan for the invitation to visit Armenia, the Vice Chairperson of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference pointed out the visit of the delegation led by the NA Vice President to China in 2024, which, according to him, played a significant role in the development of the Armenian-Chinese relations. As Su Hui assessed, 2025 was a successful year in terms of the development of bilateral relations. The leaders of the two countries announced the strategic partnership agenda, which will create new opportunities for cooperation. The active contacts of parliamentarians were highlighted. Su Hui highly appreciated the support of Armenia for the One China principle and a number of other issues.

The ways of boosting cooperation in a number of spheres were discussed.
