FuelsEurope statement on the proposed legislation on reducing system costs and fostering electrification and digitalisation

FuelsEurope supports the objective of reducing electricity costs, including network charges and taxes. However, lowering electricity prices should not come at the expense of higher taxes or charges on renewable and low-carbon fuels and gases. A successful energy transition must reduce costs across the energy system as a whole and enable both electrification and renewable and low-carbon molecules to contribute to Europe's competitiveness, energy security and decarbonisation objectives. We will carefully assess the Commission's proposal and look forward to engaging constructively throughout the legislative process.
