Foreign Ministry Repatriates Air Accident Victims' Remains from Philadelphia to Mexico
  • The remains of the six people who died in the January 31, 2025 air accident were repatriated to Mexico City by the Mexican Consul in Philadelphia
  • The families received the urns from Foreign Ministry officials

Fulfilling President Claudia Sheinbaum's promise to support the families of those who lost their lives in the Philadelphia plane crash on January 31, 2025, Mexican Consul Carlos Obrador personally brought the urns containing the remains of the six Mexican nationals to Mexico City last Friday.

The urns were presented to the victims' families during a solemn ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Vanessa Calva Ruiz, Director General of Consular Protection and Strategic Planning, presided over the ceremony on behalf of Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente, together with Consul Carlos Obrador.

The consulate worked closely with forensic authorities to fully identify the remains.

The Mexican government appreciates the solidarity and assistance from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and U.S. authorities who recovered and identified the victims promptly and respectfully, and helped arrange the dignified return of the victims to Mexico.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends its condolences to all the bereaved families and remains committed to providing consular assistance until investigations into the tragic accident conclude.
