With new infrastructure CABEI supports the security and wellbeing of Guatemalans in Suchitepéquez

Guatemala City, January 10, 2025.- To improve the provision of police services and strengthen community safety, today with the support of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, a new police station was inaugurated in the municipality of San José La Máquina in Suchitepéquez, a project that will directly benefit nearly 23,000 people, offering a safer and reliable environment for all the inhabitants of this region.

The new building, inaugurated by the Ministry of the Interior (MINGOB), has 322 square meters of construction and will allow 30 agents to provide greater efficiency in their functions through decent facilities that include administrative and operational planning environments for police prevention and investigation, as well as food areas, dormitories and parking for patrol cars.

This project is part of a series of police infrastructure projects that seek to expand and improve the operational capacity of the police in various areas of the country, and is in addition to five projects already in operation: two in Jalapa, two in Guatemala and one in Santa Rosa, benefiting more than 194,000 people in total.

CABEI Director for Guatemala, Mario Jacobs, highlighted: "We are proud to be part of this project that has a direct impact on the lives of so many people. This type of work not only strengthens security, but also creates an environment of trust and well-being for the community. At the bank, we firmly believe in supporting initiatives that promote social and economic development, and we will continue working to contribute to the progress and peace of mind of Guatemalan families."
