Working visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus M.Ryzhenkoa to Ghana (Day 2)

On March 4, 2026, the working visitof the Ministerof Foreign Affairsof the Republicof Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkovato the Republicof Ghanaended. On this day, the foreign ministersof the two countries met.

M.Ryzhenkov and Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa held talks ina narrow and expanded format.

The interlocutors discusseda wide rangeof issuesof bilateral cooperation. Special attention was paidto preparationsfor the upcoming visitof Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama to Belarus.The parties thoroughly reviewedthe substantive contentof the visit andthe packageof international documents planned for signing. Among them are agreements on visa-free travel on diplomatic and official passports, on agricultural mechanization, on export credits, onthe establishmentof an Intergovernmental Commission on Tradeand Economic Cooperation, as wellas a numberof other documents.

The Ministers confirmedtheir intentionto develop cooperation inthe political sphere, agriculture and counter-terrorism. The importanceof joint educational programswas noted.

During the talks, the organizationof a business and investment forum in Minsk withthe participationof representativesof Belarusian and Ghanaian businesseswas also discussed.

The Ministerof Foreign Affairsof Ghana thankedthe Belarusian side forthe supportof African countries, including forthe humanitarian assistance providedto Mozambique in overcomingthe natural disaster, and highly appreciatedthe cooperationof Belarus with Nigeria. He stressed that Ghana, beingthe "gateway to Africa,"is readyto work as activelyas possible with Minsk.

Special attention was paidto cooperation on international platforms.The parties agreedto support each other atthe UN. M.Ryzhenkov assured that Belaruswould vote inthe UN General Assemblyfor the resolution on reparations for colonization initiatedby the African Union, take other measures to promote and implementit, and support Ghana's candidacyto the UN elected bodies.

On the same day, a meetingwas held with Ghanaian Ministerof Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare.

Atthe beginningof the conversation, Maxim Ryzhenkov wishedhis interlocutor ahappy birthday.The parties discussedthe expansionof economic cooperation andthe implementationof projects inthe fieldof agricultural mechanization and food security.

Belarusis interested in importing Ghanaian fruits, nuts, vegetables and cocoa beans, as wellas in developing cooperation, takinginto account Belarus' membership inthe EAEU.

The Ghanaian side proposedto explorethe possibilityof establishing processing plants on its territory, in particular cocoa processing, whichwould allowit to enter the marketsof the entire African continent.The Trade Minister stressedthe importanceof preparinga comprehensive packageof bilateral agreements forthe President's visit, including documents on avoidanceof double taxation, investment protection and customs cooperation.

An agreementwas reached to preparea listof Ghanaian companies to participate inthe business forum in Minsk.

During the meeting with JohnDumelo, Deputy Ministerof Food and Agricultureof Ghana, issuesof food security and agricultural cooperationwere workedout in detail.

The Belarusian side presentedthe potentialof its agro-industrial complex:the possibilityof supplying milkpowder and poultry meat, purchasing Ghanaian cocoa beans under direct contracts, cooperation inanimal husbandry and cropproduction, includingthe supplyof breeding material,animal feed and veterinary drugs.

The Deputy Ministerof Food and Agrarian Cooperationof Ghana emphasized the importanceof developinga networkof agricultural mechanization centers - 12 such centersare plannedto open this year.The Ghanaian side stressedthe needto adapt Belarusian machinery to local conditions, includingthe needsof small farmers, as wellas the developmentof irrigation andthe creationof cold storage facilities for crops.The trainingof Ghanaian specialists inthe agricultural sector onthe basisof Belarusian specialized educational institutionswas discussed separately.

The headof the Belarusian Foreign Ministry invitedthe Ghanaian delegationto visitthe BELAGRO exhibition.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmedtheir readiness forthe practical implementationof the planned plans.
