Traffic changes begin this weekend at the South Jerome Interchange to prepare for permanent ramp opening next week

JEROME - The Idaho Transportation Department will open the new I-84 eastbound off-ramp at the South Jerome Interchange on Wednesday morning. Several traffic changes will occur at the interchange so crews can prepare to open the ramp. Motorists can expect:

  • Southbound Lincoln Avenue traffic will shift to the northbound bridge this weekend.
  • The I-84 eastbound off-ramp will close from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
    • Motorists will detour to the Main Street/SH-25 Interchange (Exit 165). View a detour map.
  • The new eastbound off-ramp is expected to open by 6 a.m. on Wednesday.
  • Southbound Lincoln Avenue traffic is expected to shift back to the southbound bridge by 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

Work to replace the I-84 South Jerome Interchange with a new divided diamond/couplet interchange design began in 2024. The new interchange is expected to improve safety, increase traffic flow and improve pedestrian connectivity to serve the growing needs of South-Central Idaho. Work is scheduled to be completed in November.

Motorists are encouraged to leave early, slow down and pay attention to work zone signage. Visit 511.idaho.gov to plan your route in advance.
