VIDEO RELEASE: Senator Moody Urges Floridians to Participate in National Drug Take Back Day

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Senator Ashley Moody is urging Floridians to participate in National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday and help save lives. On National Drug Take Back Day, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration hosts drop off locations nationwide where anyone can drop off unused, unwanted or expired prescription medication, to help keep the substances from falling into the wrong hands.

"Substance abuse is tearing apart families, destroying communities and killing Floridians. As Attorney General, I fought the opioid crisis head on-winning historic legal battles, and leading fentanyl interdiction efforts to stop the flow of this deadly poison. While I continue this fight in the U.S. Senate, we still need your help-on Drug Take Back Day, locate any unused or unneeded medications in your medicine cabinet and take them to a drop-off location near you," said Senator Ashley Moody.

BACKGROUND:

  • National Drug Take Back Day is this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • On the last Take Back Day in October 2025, Floridians safely disposed of 27,304 pounds of medications. VisitDEA.gov/TakeBackDay to find a drop-off location nearby.
  • As Florida's former Attorney General, Senator Moody fought against the opioid crisis-chairing the Statewide Task Force on Opioid Drug Abuse, assembling a working group of experts to identify strategies and best practices for addressing the crisis, winning historic legal battles, creating public awareness materials and more.
