Statement regarding November 5 incident

Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is deeply concerned about an incident that occurred at an off-campus event on Wednesday, November 5. We understand that a group of demonstrators entered the venue and that the Toronto Police Service attended the scene, making multiple arrests.

TMU condemns acts of aggression, intimidation, or violence. The actions that took place on Wednesday are unacceptable and do not reflect the values of our community. Our thoughts are with any students who may have been injured during the incident.

The safety and well-being of our community, and the broader public, are of paramount importance. The university will apply our policies, as appropriate, to respond.

TMU remains committed to fostering an environment where members of our community can engage in dialogue and debate respectfully and safely, in keeping with our values of inclusion, free expression, and mutual respect.
