SIUE senior forward Ring Malith has been named the Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball Player of the Week after a pair of standout performances.
Ring Malith was the offensive leader for the Cougars, and the catalyst in the comeback win Monday at North Florida. Malith recorded his first 30-point game with a career-high 31 points, while adding 10 rebounds for his seventh career double-double.
He sparked the Cougars to an 18-2 run to finish the game and scored the final nine points of the contest himself. Malith was 10-for-17 shooting and 9-11 at the free throw line.
Saturday, Malith was the Cougars' leader with 20 points in a hard-fought loss against Western Michigan, where he was 8-for-15 shooting.
He averaged 25.5 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals for the week.
The award is the first for Malith in his SIUE career.
The Cougars (6-4) are off until Sunday when they welcome Eureka College to First Community Arena.
