Lowenstein Represents Protege in $30M Series A Funding Round Lead by a16z

Lowenstein Sandler represented Protege, an AI data platform unlocking access to trusted, real-world data at scale, in its $30 million Series A-1 funding round led by a16z with participation from returning investors including Footwork, CRV, Bloomberg Beta, Flex Capital, and Shaper Capital, among others. The round brings Protege's total funding to $65 million, adding to the company's previous $25 million Series A funding round from August 2025 in which Lowenstein also served as counsel.

Protege aggregates data sources from trusted data providers via licensing agreements and provides technical expertise for curating, creating, and optimizing datasets for AI development. Protege works with AI companies and institutions worldwide to support training and evaluation workflows for next-generation AI systems.

The funding further enables the company to unlock greater access to data for AI development across industries and domains. Protege intends to accelerate product development, expand its data network into new domains and data formats, deepen partnerships with leading institutions, and scale its team and infrastructure.

The Lowenstein team included Anthony O. Pergola, Claire Dronzek, Lauren N. Russell, and Chynara Tolubaeva.
