Two-Vehicle Collision on Old Hickory Boulevard Claims Nashville Man

A front seat passenger in a 2005 Lincoln Grand Marquis was fatally injured in Friday's 2 a.m. two-vehicle collision on Old Hickory Boulevard at Zermatt Avenue.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the Grand Marquis, Katera Johnson, 38, was traveling west on Old Hickory Boulevard when she turned left onto Zermatt Avenue and was struck in the passenger side by an eastbound 2019 Honda Accord. The Grand Marquis overturned. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt. Her passenger, Markeith Miller, 42, of Nashville, died at the scene. Johnson, of Murfreesboro, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda, Eddie McGee III, 25, was wearing his seatbelt. He was also transported to VUMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary contributing factor to this fatal crash appears to be failure to yield the right of way on the part of Johnson. The investigation continues to determine whether speed or impairment were factors.
