Congresswoman Tenney Applauds $3 Million in Northern Border Regional Commission Funding for NY-24 Infrastructure Projects

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24), today applauded the three projects across New York's 24th Congressional District that will receive a total of $3 million through the Northern Border Regional Commission's 2026 Catalyst Program to support critical infrastructure, housing, economic development, and water quality projects.

The Village of Oakfield in Genesee County will receive $1 million toward a project to replace failing clay sewer mains, century-old waterlines, and reconstruct streets along a corridor that serves as a key conveyance link to advanced manufacturers. The project will increase system capacity, improve fire protection, and help unlock 470 developable acres for workforce housing and local business growth. The Town of Varick in Seneca County will receive $1 million toward a project to create Sanitary Sewer District No. 4 along Cayuga Lake, replacing aging septic systems, installing 172 grinder pumps and 21,930 feet of force main, and improving water quality while supporting tourism, wineries, and local economic development. The Village of Clayton in Jefferson County will receive $1 million toward a project to design and build water and wastewater extensions needed to support new housing for middle-income essential workers, stabilize local employers, and expand participation in the regional economy. Together, these investments support $3 million in project funding across NY-24.

"The Northern Border Regional Commission is a tremendous resource for communities across NY-24 and along our northern border," said Congresswoman Tenney. "These investments will address critical infrastructure needs, improve water and wastewater systems, support workforce housing, strengthen local businesses, and help communities prepare for long-term economic growth. This funding will make a real difference for families, employers, and local governments working to build stronger, more resilient communities. I will continue advocating for resources that deliver results for Upstate and Western New York."
