On 24 August 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sanoi Boyzoda participated in the opening of World Water Week in Stockholm.
In his remarks, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of moving from global water commitments to their practical implementation, underscoring the need to keep water issues at the center of the international agenda and to further strengthen cooperation in this area.
Particular attention was given to the preparations for the 2028 United Nations Water Conference, to be hosted by the Republic of Tajikistan. It was noted that the Fourth High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development", 2018-2028, held in Dushanbe in May 2026, provided an important basis for continuing international consultations on the possible outcomes of the 2028 Conference and shaping the themes of its interactive dialogues.
The Deputy Minister also briefed participants on Tajikistan's efforts to advance the draft United Nations General Assembly resolution on the modalities of the 2028 United Nations Water Conference, as well as the proposal to consider the Dushanbe Water Framework as one of the potential outcomes of the Conference.
In conclusion, it was emphasized that the 2023, 2026 and 2028 United Nations Water Conferences should be viewed as a single and continuous global process, aimed at delivering concrete results and shaping the future global water agenda.
