Acclaimed Argentine singer-songwriter, cultural leader and former Minister of Culture Teresa Parodi has been elected Vice President of CISAC, the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers, representing 225 authors' societies in more than 110 countries.
The election took place on 3 June ahead of CISAC's landmark Centenary General Assembly in Paris.
One of Latin America's most respected creators, Parodi has played a defining role in Argentine and Latin American culture for more than four decades. The Corrientes-born artist has written more than 600 registered musical works, released 33 albums and received some of Argentina's highest cultural honours, including the Cosquín Consagración Award, the Platinum Konex Award and the Gardel Lifetime Achievement Award.
Alongside her artistic career, Parodi has been a prominent advocate for cultural diversity and creators' rights. In 2014, she became Argentina's first Minister of Culture, helping shape national cultural policy and strengthen the place of creators in public life.
Her commitment to creators also extends to collective management. She has served on the boards of SADAIC (Argentine Society of Authors and Composers of Music) and AADI (Argentine Association of Performers), contributing to the advancement of creators' rights across Argentina and the wider region.
Parodi joins Grammy Award-winning Senegalese singer-songwriter Youssou N'Dour, Spanish screenwriter and film director Ángeles González-Sinde, former Minister of Culture of Spain, and renowned Japanese visual artist Kazuhiko Fukuoji as CISAC Vice Presidents, serving alongside CISAC President Björn Ulvaeus.
