Georgia College & State University is proud to welcome back Kristina Turner, Georgia's first female deputy state auditor, for a special campus-wide presentation.
With more than 25 years at the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts, Turner has led major initiatives in technology integration, data analytics and research development, while championing a culture of innovation and public service. Reflecting on her time at GCSU, Turner said, "My professors knew me personally and invested in my success. Working as an accounting lab assistant built my confidence and showed me I could lead."
Her career blends management information systems, accounting, auditing and leadership - including guiding five teams through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Being the first woman in this role was a milestone," Turner said, "but what defined my career was leading during the pandemic. Watching our team adapt and thrive showed me the real power of leadership."
From navigating leadership during the pandemic to pioneering new approaches in data analytics, Turner offers a unique perspective on public service and the future of auditing. She'll share her journey in a Q&A style session with Chloe Crosby, Master of Accountancy candidate.
