In observance of the Christmas and New Year 's Day holiday s , City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Wednesday and Thurs day, December 24-25 , and Thursday, January 1 . The Cambridge Cemetery will have gates open from 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. throughout the holiday season, but the administrative office will be closed on December 24-25 and January 1 for the City's holiday observance dates.
Parking Meter Payments
Parking meter payments will not be required on Wednesday, December 24, Thursday, December 25, and Thursday, January 1.
Libraries
Please also note that all library locations will be close d on Wednesday, December 24 and Thursday, December 25. They will reopen for their regular hours on Friday , December 26 . Additionally, all Cambridge Public Library locations will close at 5 p.m. on December 31 and remain closed on Thursday, January 1. They will reopen for their regular hours on Friday, January 2.
Curbside Collection
T here will be no curbside collections on Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day) and Thursday, January 1 (New Year ' s Day). Trash, recycling, and compost collections will be delayed by one day for the remainder of those weeks.
Yard waste collection ends on December 3 1. After December 31, the City encourages residents to continue collecting leaves and other yard waste from curbs, streets, and yards. The City will resume collect ing yard waste in April. Note: y ard w aste is not allowed in the trash .
Street Cleaning
Streets scheduled for sweeping on December 24 will be swept as usual. Streets scheduled for December 25 will instead be swept on December 29. Street cleaning ends for the season on December 31, 2025, and will resume in April 2026.
Christmas Trees
Christmas Trees (natural with no decorations or bags) will be picked up on regularly scheduled curbside collection day s between January 2 - 14, 2026. After January 14, Christmas trees can be brought to the Recycle Center during open hours through January 31 for proper disposal.

Reminders related to street cleaning and waste collection are available by text message, email, or app notifications by downloading the "Zero Waste Cambridge" app for iPhone/Android. Cambridge Police Department Offer Package Theft Prevention Tips
T he Cambridge Police Department expects reports of package thefts to increase this time of year, particularly with more residents doing their shopping online.
Here are tips to protect your holiday deliveries.
Track your packages online, so you have a better idea when it is scheduled to arrive, and/or sign up for delivery alert notifications.
Request that your packages arrive when/if you plan on being home or request that they are placed in a secure location outside your home or in your apartment building .
If you do need to travel, place a hold on your package until you return to keep your parcel safe.
Have your packages delivered to your work address , if you are not able to be home.
Consider utilizing "store pickups" or "hub lockers" and pick up your items at your convenience.
Consider installing a security camera or utilizing lockboxes that provide access codes to delivery companies.
If you have experienced this type of activity, report it to the Cambridge Police Department by calling 617-349-3300 , even if you have reported it to the Postal Service or a delivery company.
Anyone who sees any suspicious activity, such as a possible suspect trailing a delivery truck route, is strongly encouraged to contact 911 in an emergency or 617-349-3300 for a non-emergency.
