Olive-Harvey College Launches New Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program that Prepares Students to Support the Regions EV infrastructure

CHICAGO - On September 25, Olive-Harvey College announced the launch of its brand-new Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure program, a forward-thinking educational initiative designed to prepare students for careers in one of the fastest-growing sectors of the world economy.

The announcement was held in the hangar of the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics (TDL) building at Olive-Harvey College.

"At Olive-Harvey College, we are proud to be at the forefront of innovation in workforce education. The launch of our Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program reflects our deep commitment to preparing students for the future of transportation. As the demand for EV techs continues to grow, we are ensuring our students meet that demand fully prepared," said President Kimberly Hollingsworth, City Colleges of Chicago.

As the world continues to purchase EV vehicles, including hybrids, the demand for skilled EV workers is forecasted to continue to grow. Olive-Harvey College's new program offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and industry-recognized training in EV charging station installation, maintenance, and smart grid integration, all vital components to EV transportation. The program is developed in collaboration with industry partners and aligns with national standards, providing pathways to certifications.

Electric car sales in 2025 are expected to exceed 20 million worldwide to represent more than one-quarter of cars sold worldwide. Sales were up 35% year-on-year in the first three months of 2025, with record first-quarter sales in all major markets (source: IEA.org). Worldwide, fast charging capacity is expected to increase roughly ten-fold by 2030. Between 2025-2035, some forecasts expect more than 33 million public EV charging points globally and many more private or home-based (source: EV Infrastructure News).

Workforce Readiness: What Students Can Expect:
