Kansas City Approves Round 6 of Funding for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund

The Kansas City Affordable Housing Trust Fund (HTF) is now accepting Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for Round 6. The Affordable Housing Trust Fund board has made up to $15,000,000 available for affordable housing development and homeownership support activities. This RFP will open on March 30 and close at 4:59 p.m. CDT on May 15.

The Housing Trust Fund represents one of the City's largest direct investment tools to support affordable housing creation and preservation for our residents. Since its inception in 2021, Housing Trust Fund has invested $60 million to promote the creation, preservation, and availability of affordable housing for Kansas City residents. The Housing Trust Fund is a locally funded program administered by the Housing and Community Development Department (HCDD).

With investments in development projects across the City, HTF supports non-profit developers, provides vital funding for transitional housing opportunities, and drives the construction or preservation of 3,000 affordable units.

"These investments do more than build affordable units; they also build Kansas City's economy," said Blaine Proctor, Director of the Housing and Community Development Department. "For every Housing Trust Fund dollar invested, the City is activating $23 of economic activity. That means more jobs for our contractors, more American-made products bought and sold, and increased economic security for our residents."

HCDD will be hosting two workshops to share more information about the RFP application process. These workshops are a great opportunity for potential applicants to learn more about program requirements, qualified activities, development expectations, and how to apply.
