HARRISBURG - Surrounded by family, friends and supporters, Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) was sworn in on Tuesday at the state Capitol to begin her second term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
First elected in 2020, Brown made history as the first Republican to represent the 9th Legislative District since 1952. She is also the first female elected to hold the position in the district.
"It is an incredible honor to continue representing the residents of Lawrence County and to serve as their voice in Harrisburg," said Brown. "Over the past two years, we have made great strides in improving the quality of life for our community, and I am excited to build on that progress this session."
Brown reaffirmed her commitment to protecting constitutional rights, advocating for Pennsylvania's energy economy and ensuring access to quality education for every child.
"I remain dedicated to fighting for our shared values, promoting local economic growth and working collaboratively to create a brighter future for Lawrence County and the entire Commonwealth," said Brown.
Brown will serve on the House Appropriations, Aging and Older Adult Services, Commerce, Health and State Government committees for the 2025-26 legislative session.
Gaydos will serve on the House Liquor Control, Commerce, Finance and Professional Licensure committees. She has also been assigned to serve on the newly formed House Communication and Technology Committee.
In addition, Brown is the co-prime sponsor of legislation that would reduce the Personal Income Tax (PIT) rate and increase funding for property tax relief. The legislation is part of a series of bills to ease the economic struggles of hard-working Pennsylvania families.
Prior to being elected in 2020, Brown spent 15 years as an executive at UPS. She moved on to open a medical spa in Georgia and grew her business and brand from the ground up for nine years. She then took a position as chief executive officer with a nonprofit Catholic pro-life organization, the Pregnancy Aid Clinic, whose growth she tripled in only three years by adding locations and increasing funding for its mission.
Brown's district office, located at 28 N. Mill St., New Castle, remains open to assist constituents with state-related matters. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Constituents are encouraged to call 833-431-0502, visit her website at
