Author Sarah Penner to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 10AM on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025
Palm Harbor, FL - October 22, 2025 -Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its new Palm Harbor, FL bookstore on Wednesday, October 29th.
The new Barnes & Noble will offer over 20,000 square feet of books, toys, games, magazines, gift items and more, including a B&N Café. The new Palm Harbor Barnes & Noble is located in Highland Lakes Plaza (33591 US Highway 19 N, Palm Harbor, FL 34684) right next to Trader Joe's.
The new Barnes & Noble bookstore will officially open to the public at 10AM EST on Wednesday the 29th, with New York Times and international bestselling author Sarah Penner cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her books, including her latest novel, The Amalfi Curse.
"We are very pleased to be opening this beautiful new bookstore in Palm Harbor, our sixth Barnes & Noble to open in Florida this year - so far," said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. "The enduring appeal of real bookstores at a time of ongoing growth in reading means that Barnes & Noble is opening new bookstores at a pace not achieved in decades. Handing the reins to our booksellers means that each is tailored to its community, and our Palm Harbor booksellers are eager to welcome their customers in."
Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.
The Palm Harbor location is one of eight new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in October, alongside new stores in California, Connecticut, South Florida, Idaho, Louisiana and Tennessee. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.
The design of the Palm Harbor store showcases the ambition of Barnes & Noble to create exceptional local bookstores that marry the best traditions of independent bookselling with the resources of the historic chain. The new Palm Harbor Barnes & Noble will cover about 22,000 square feet, including a café, and carry all the best books, as well as a wide range of toys, games and the usual paper and gifting items found at Barnes & Noble.
"Our team of passionate, enthusiastic and experienced booksellers has been busy curating this new Barnes & Noble with the Palm Harbor community in mind," said Store Manager Gina Martins, Barnes & Noble bookseller of 18 years. "We're all looking forward to seeing both new and long-time customers, and becoming a gathering place, a part of the fabric of this community."
