On Wednesday, April 22nd, Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruță, and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad, met, at the MoND headquarters, with the Chief of General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wiesław Kukuła, who paid an official visit to Romania.
During the talks, the officials addressed topics related to security developments in the region and measures to enhance cooperation between Romania and Poland within NATO, with emphasis on strengthening the deterrence and defence posture on the eastern flank.
The Romanian minister proposed the identification of a common solution between the two countries to approach common risks, efficiently use resources and to increase the deterrence capacity of the Alliance.
The Chief of Defence Staff appreciated the sound strategic partnership between the two countries and stated that this is reflected "in the mutual presence of forces, participation in multinational structures and the conduct of joint exercises and training activities, thus contributing to strengthening security on the entire eastern flank of the Alliance, from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea."
The Polish delegation's visit agenda will also include laying a wreath at the Unknown Soldier's Tomb in "Carol I Park", as well as traveling to Craiova, where a military ceremony will take place at the South-East Multinational Brigade and joint training activities of Romanian and Polish soldiers will be organized.
